BRExit aftermath

As we’ve been expecting, the result of the voting on the 23rd June, 2016 caused havoc, in not just the United Kingdom’s political, and economical system. And according to the hidfo.ru Germany and France would want to create a European super state, to prevent the destruction of the European Union. While according to origo.hu, the President of the Czech Republic is considering the country’s leave from not just the EU, but from NATO as well. And as it seems like, Austria isn’t as stable as we have been expecting before the BRExit, as a recent poll just shown, that if there would be a general election for Austria to stay or leave the EU, it would still stay but only with a small margin. (Just as in the UK)

Those who didn’t believe that we are the ones, who are writing the history, well for them this could be enough proof. The sources for the above mentioned news could be reached on the links down below:

Budapest Airport improvements

On the 30th June, 2016, Budapest Airport has announced, that as the part of the BUD 2020 program, the construction of the new passenger wing would start on Terminal 2B. Above all that, there are plans for an airport hotel, and for a new logistics center. And also to improve the security areas.

The passenger wing is a key element in the improvements of the airport, as in the first five months of 2016, there were 12,5% more passenger travelling through Budapest airport, than in the same period of time, in the year before. The construction of the new building are scheduled to start at the end of the year, and will last for about one and a half years.

The CEO of Budapest Airport also said, that they have started to make plans for a new railway connection as well, with Kőbánya-Kispest station. And also they have considered planning a new terminal building as well, due to the projections, that in the next five years the number of passengers could raise to 15-18 million in a year.

You can have a look at the animations of the planned improvements on the following link:

Joint Air Force Base Andrews has been under lock down.

On 30th June, 2016 at 9:16 local time, the twitter page of Andrews AFB has been updated, saying that “JBA is currently on lockdown due to a report of an active shooter. All personnel are directed to shelter in place. More info as it comes.”

Later it has been confirmed by the commander of the base, and by the press, that the lockdown was due to a mistake. As on the above mentioned day he base was scheduled to conduct an active shooter exercise, however, reports of a real-world active shooter situation were reported.

As it turned out about an hour later, the real-world active shooter was the exercise itself, and approximately an hour after clearing this up, the base returned to its normal operation.

Technology

YouTube joins to the mobile live-streaming competition.

According to the http://www.hwsw.hu website, Google has decided to join to the live streaming market. Even though on the main website of YouTube the streaming option was available, but it didn’t support mobile devices. The first social media website to come up with a solution for that problem was Twitter, with their app: Periscope. And regardless of the hiccups in the first few months with the application, by today Periscope became a success. Not so much after Twitter, Facebook has realized the potential, and made their own implementation, which was first used by only a small group of celebrities, but nowadays it is available for everyone. In the updated version of the YouTube app, the function is already available, and according to the official notes, the YouTube streaming would be “faster, and more reliable, than its competitors”.

In my opinion, YouTube had made a good choice with this decision, as this would be great help for many content creators. And even though I have seen a few live events on Facebook, but I see a greater opportunity to directly share my videos on the biggest content sharing website. If the developers would really be able to implement the functionality.

The journey of Solar Impulse 2 has came to and end

On 23rd June 2016, after flying for 71 hours and 8 minutes from New York, the famous plane have landed safely in Seville. And with that the approximately 35.000 km around the world journey has been completed. Which is remarkable considering that the aircraft have taken-off on 9th March 2015 from Abu-Dhabi, and for 30th / 31st May (depending on the time-zone) it has already reached Nagoya. Although here it had to make a long rest, as weather conditions were not good enough above the Pacific Ocean to allow the take-off. At least until the 28th June 2015. After taking off from Japan, the plane have crossed half of the waters, and after 4 days, 21 hours, and 52 minutes it have landed in Hawaii. Where it had to wait until 21st April 2016, when it took off again, flown over the North-American continent, and the Atlantic Ocean, and arrived to Seville.

Emergency landing in Singapore

On 27th June 2016 at 08:04 London local time, Singapore Airline’s Boeing 777-300, tail-number 9V-SWB, was en-route from Singapore to Milan Malpensa with 222 passengers and 19 crew on board, and it was flying at the altitude of 30.000 feet (~9,14 km) above the Andaman See. And completed two of the roughly nine hour journey, when the crew noticed an oil leak in the right wing engine (number 2), and started a descent first to 17.000 feet, and than returned to Singapore. After a successful landing, and taxiing to one of the designated taxiways, the engine and most of the right wing caught fire. According to the footage the fire fighting crews have managed to handle the situation efficiently, and none of the passengers or the crew has been hurt. Though the structure of the aircraft have suffered major losses.

Ryanair has announced yet another service

On 28th June 2016 the Irish low-cost airline Ryanair has announced, the between their normal and Business Plus options there will be another option for their customers called Leisure Plus. Which is nothing else, than a combination of some of their otherwise optional extras. Those who were to choose Leisure Plus from now on will be eligible for priority boarding, and they would be able to bring one (maximum 10kg) cabin baggage with themselves, among with a laptop carrying case. Also would be able to choose their seats for free, and will be eligible to check-in a maximum 20kg hold-luggage.

Also they have modified the Business Plus scheme a bit, as the ticket modifications are going to raise for +2/-2 days, from the current +1/-1 days. Other than that everything stayed the same for passengers who are using Ryanair’s Business Plus services.

App of the week

DayOne Journal

Well DayOne Journal, is nothing short of a best friend of a journalist, or lets just say the creative community. Even though it hasn’t been the first time when I’ve met with this application, if I remember correctly it was back in February 2015, and since than it was a mandatory application on any of my Apple devices, not just because it synchronizes via iCloud, but because it’s functionality and performance have beaten WordPress’ own app, and also because whatever I have written in DayOne, I could have published it with a single touch on a WordPress website.

I have to say though, that the application is only available on iOS, and macOS. And on iOS they ask £3.99 for it, while on macOS it is a bit more costly as it is £22.99. And I know that these are quite high prices for a glorified notepad, Microsoft Word, or Pages. But there are cases when the iOS version is available as  free to download, and in those cases the macOS prices are dropped as well.

Film and media

Sully

On 30th June 2016, Warner Brothers Studio have published their newest project’s first trailer. The movie is directed by Clint Eastwood, starring: Tom Hanks, in a drama where we will be able to re-live the hardest flight of the national hero Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger. And most of the moments of the investigation afterwards. I’ve gotta say can’t wait ’til 9th September!

HA-LCI

Also on 30th June, 2016, Filmservice Kft. has published a trailer, well this might be a bit exaggerated, as I haven’t been able to embed, or share the link, for you guys to be able to watch it here.

The title: HA-LCI doesn’t seem like a dealbreaker, but aviation enthusiasts would know for sure, that this is nothing else but a tail-number of  Tu-154B2 aircraft. Which was flying the Budapest – Beirut route as Malév 240, and on 30th September 1975 it has crashed into the Mediterranean Sea, and to this day and age the cause of the catastrophe is unknown.

The trailer could be seen on the link below, and I have to say when this movie hits Hungarian cinemas, I’m a 100% sure, that I’ll get on the next flight, to catch the premier.

(Disclaimer the trailer is in Hungarian)

No one seems to be interested in the Independence Day – Resurrection

As we have already given you an insight, 20 years after the original story, Roland Emmerich have decided to endanger our planet again, but at this time he also managed to make an even bigger attack.

Although it seems like, not too many people were interested, at least not in the US, as the filmezzunk.hu website have confirmed.

While in Hungary the ticket office income has been close to 75 million Forints (~ £200.000 on today’s (03/07/16) exchange rate) on the first week. In the US ‘Finding Dory’ massively overachieved the “new” sci-fi. If you’ve missed out on our previous movie review, click on the link down below.

Movie Review: Independence Day – Resurgence

Hey guys, what is going on Mark here,
And today we’re going to talk to give you a review, as yesterday (27th June, 2016. The editor) I have had the opportunity to watch the above mentioned movie. I’d like to mention in advance, that would be a full review on my part, so:

Spoiler-Alert

Now that we’ve made this clear, lets get started

It was expected from the start, that this movie is just going to be that kind of a thing, when they just want to revive a 90s classis, and in the same time they’d try to milk this cow until they can.
